First Visit

An initial consultation visit is usually required prior to your actual treatment visit. This initial consultation is necessary when your case is complex, if you have a complex medical history or if your referring dentist referred you specifically for a consultation. We also recommend that you first schedule a consultation visit if you haven’t been to your dentist for along time, don’t have a direct referral to our office or if you are not sure what needs to be done.Sometimes treatment can be performed during the first consultation appointment, depending on the complexity of the case and only if time allows. During the consultation appointment you will be carefully  evaluated and we will discuss diagnosis and treatment options. It is possible to be scheduled directly for the treatment without an initial consultation appointment generally only if you have a recent direct referral from your general dentist for root canal therapy. Please have such information available when you call to make your first appointment with us.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your referral slip and any X-rays if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring any applicable completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit. For safety reasons children may not accompany adults into the treatment rooms. Please make prior arrangements for child care.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e antibiotics, for pre-med.)
